Peru and the fight on global warming

I have send some emails to key players firms in the newly carbon market. I am introducing myself as International Director from the company www.carbonperu.com.

I aint got no office though, no working capital either. Just a loan with the support of my father back home and the feeling carbon offset projects in Peru are a great idea to mitigate global warming while helping people in Peru, saving the Amazon Forest, and to be honest, make me earn a few pounds.

The idea behind the business is quite simple. Everybody emits GHG (green house gases which the main one is C02) in their daily life, this is called carbon footprint. Everybody can reduce their carbon footprint doing a few things in order to save energy. We highly encourage this.

Nevertheless, is impossible to completely stop carbon emissions. In that case, we offer people, companies and organizations, a way of contributing to mitigate global warming by financing reforestation, forest conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects like wind, solar and hydropower.

By doing this, people can compensate the amount of carbon emissions they can`t reduce while improving the environment and society in Peru. If they do this, we grant them with our CarbonPeru Neutral certificate.

We will not plant trees just for the sake of starting a business like other companies do. We will never cut trees in order to plant them again and charge for this service. In Peru, we have almost 80 million hectares of forest. 10 million have been already logged and the numbers are increasing. We have then a large area to plant new trees, but fortunately, we have an even bigger area of around 70 million hectares with natural Amazon rainforest that we must take care through avoiding deforestation.



On the other hand, we have a vast amount of natural resources ideal for renewable energy sources and natural gas to help us switch from fossil energy sources to green ones improving our energy efficiency.

We must have on mind something very important: global warming is global, so what we do in Peru affects the entire planet. Reduction or sequestration of C02 done in Peru is the same as doing it at your backyard.
